Inspection & regulation regarding the proper sanitation and precautions taken at processing locations that produce dairy products, including but not limited to: milk, cheese, ice cream, custards, and butter: basically any product made from milk.

POLICY GOALS IMPLICATED

Security & efficiency

TOOL CHARACTERISTICS

Very visible. Somewhat coersive. Very direct. Somewhat automatic.

EXTENT POLICY SUPPORTS/HINDERS

These regulations cover a wide area of food processing involving milk-based products. The documents seem to be geared toward mainly large-scale operations, but they language provided in this reference source was relatively easy to understand. These regulations are meant to enforce safety and sanitation practices and are presented in a way that may be more easily understood than the regulations and legislations themselves, but may hinder civic agriculture because of the strict, lengthy, explicit instructions and regulations for dairy-product processing.
